Prior to any treatment, a consultation takes place between the practitioner and the client, typically lasting up to an hour. This evaluation determines the client's suitability and outlines the procedure details.

During the treatment, the lips are numbed using a topical anaesthetic and then injected with ultra-fine needles. As a non-invasive procedure, the entire process usually takes between thirty to forty-five minutes.

Dermal lip fillers can last up to twelve months, depending on the brand used, and are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally produced in the body. The longevity of these fillers varies based on the type used:

• Restylane – six months.
• Juvederm – six months.
• Belotero – six to eighteen months.
• Teosyal – nine months to a year.

A benefit of lip fillers is their temporary nature. If dissatisfied with the look, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved safely and comfortably through a specific treatment.

Like any treatment, temporary side effects might occur. Lip dermal fillers involve a series of injections around the lips to enhance volume and reduce wrinkles, possibly resulting in swelling and soreness. This natural response usually subsides after a few days.

Patient factors such as age and lifestyle may influence swelling duration, typically ranging from twenty-four to forty-eight hours post-treatment.

The frequency of lip filler top-ups depends on the product used and the client’s age. Typically, a touch-up every six to twelve months is recommended. However, consult your doctor to determine the best schedule for you.

There are no strict limitations, but it is advisable to wait until the topical anaesthetic wears off before eating. During the first twenty-four hours, avoid chewy or hard-to-eat foods that might disturb the fillers and injection areas.

It is advisable to avoid alcohol for a few days post-treatment, as it can act as a blood thinner, increasing the likelihood of inflammation and more severe side effects.
