Key Questions to Ask When Ordering ripper arm

SE Fat Ripper

Here, I've decided to upgrade the bottom bracket to a Profile external bearing Euro model, paired with an 8" Profile spindle. While some argue that a 7.5" spindle would be ideal, the 8" version works well enough for me.

There's been a lot of chatter around using a spindle shorter than 8". Some have had issues with rear cog spacing due to chain misalignment, but my setup has been flawless. I used two big washers on the drive side with a Profile blackjack sprocket and three on the non-drive side. While the Profile install tool initially bottomed out, I managed to push the arms on completely by using profile washers to raise the cone.

The end result? My crank arms fit perfectly without any visible spline, ensuring a smooth ride. I've been using a black/chrome Izumi chain, which I prefer over the KMC, for an even smoother drivetrain experience.
