Ryobi 6-port charger, not for battery storage

Ryobi 6-port charger, not for battery storage

I have had B&D Firestorm for years and the set owes me nothing. I really didn't "need" a new set, but the Ryobi day deals were pretty good, and they had some tools, like the compressor and the hybrid pump, that I'll make good use of. I was told they both work very well, as does the Ryobi hedge trimmer, so I took the leap.

Yes, I have 2 of the smart chargers and 1 standard charger. Keep in mind that other than the 18A nailer, I haven't opened any of my Ryobi tools yet. I need to organize my space first.

Initially, my hope for the 6-port was to charge multiple batteries at once. It does NOT do that, and it's clearly stated in their information. It charges in sequence, so you put up to 6 batteries on the charger, go to bed, and they will charge one at a time and be ready when you wake up. Folks can definitely benefit from that, probably not me, though. Then I figured that would be a nice convenience for the rare occasion that I need to charge a handful of batteries, but if it keeps a few batteries fully charged at all times, I'm in. So I bought it. It was later that I realized it begins to deplete the batteries after a few weeks.

I have high hopes for my Ryobi items, so I'm not bashing. I probably overbought and might return a 6 1/2" circular saw I bought and even sell the smaller saw that came with the 6-piece kit. My B&D Firestorm saw is 7 1/4", and it's hard to find that size in other brands. I was planning on getting rid of the B&D items, but the saw is the main reason I'll keep them. Plus, they owe me nothing. The tools have always done what I've asked and the batteries are excellent at holding a charge over time. One drill popped a chuck, but I can't complain about their performance to value ratio at all. My old Ryobi drill, which I bought, has also performed very well.
