An hydraulic elevator operates using a hydraulic cylinder filled with oil, making it easier to install and requiring fewer parts compared to other types of elevators. However, it is important to note that hydraulic elevators tend to be slower and have a lower weight capacity. Most products are also designed for public use, rather than designed for homes. One other aspect to consider is potential issue of leaking oil or where to install the oil tank. More about hydraulic elevators here >>

Cost for new hydraulic lift w/canopy?
I have hydrolic. I think the only advantage is the speed. A good hoist with wench or hydrolic will last. Hydrolic going up or down in a couple seconds also adds to the cool factor. I know winches need chains replaced, but that is after a lot of years. Those with hydrolic that I know that have had them longer than me have not had problems (my first one I bought in ) but not nearly as long as the long time owners of winch types, so who knows the longevity of hydrolic before needing major work. Also, a nice thing about winch type, is that if you lose power or major issue, you can usually still get your boat out a secondary way. Hydrolic you are stuck until up and running again. Even with that I have two hydrolics and would get another one. So far so good.
